NJ Gov. Resigns
All I can say is what Daily Kos had to say on this issue. "Fuck the people who force people like McGreevey to hide in a closet." Could not say it better myself!!
Just curious what your thoughts are on McGreevy appointing his friend/lover to a $110,000 a year job to run New Jersey's homeland security, despite the fact that the friend/lover was an Israeli national, thus precluding him for receiving certain national security information.
Some might say his resignation had less to do w/ being gay, and more to do w/ this allegedly improper conduct (not to mention the various other scandals that had plagued his administration)....
If he resigned solely because he is gay, then that is a travesty, but as Mr. Valdez indicates, all the facts seem to point that there was much more to this than McGreevy just being gay.
Moreover, let's look at some other politicians who were forced to resign. Bob Livingston resigned for having a heterosexual affair. The last Governor of Kentucky resigned for having a heterosexual affair. And, Ill Senate candidate Jack Ryan resigned for just alleging wanting to have kinky sex with his wife.
The point being is that precedent dictates that being gay or not wouldn't have mattered here. Precedent dictates that affairs equal resignations. On top of that, in this case, it looks like there is much more going on here - going all the way back to fundraising and corruption scandals in New Jersey and possibly the mob.
