Terror Alert Banana was Old and Brown

Turns out that the information that we are all supposed to be scared about is 3 years old!!! Yes that's right...They are trying to freak out the country with evidence from before 9/11. I'm surprised they have not raised the terror alert because the Rosenbergs gave the Russians the bomb or that Abigail Proctor is a witch. If we can't get information that is fresher that 3 years old then we have much greater problems with intel then even the 9/11 commission suggests.

Update: For those of you who might be mislead by the repub spin the NYtimes is the one who broke this story and goes into depth with Admin. Officials who say that this information was 3-4 years old. Here is the senior officials quote:

"You could say that the bulk of this information is old, but we know that Al Qaeda collects, collects, collects until they're comfortable,'' said one senior government official. "Only then do they carry out an operation. And there are signs that some of this may have been updated or may be more recent.''

We are supposed to be scared because of old info and something that MAY or MAY NOT have been updated. Before they cry wolf again maybe they should have some real evidence.

I have in my hand a list of 205 cases of individuals who appear to be either card-carrying members or certainly loyal to the terroist alert banana.

I enjoy reading this fiction everyday. This is just like a Michael Moore movie. Your blog takes some of the facts and then ignores others to paint a totally incorrect picture.

The facts with respect to the terror alert are as follows: (1) Three or four years ago, there was evidence of a possible threat against financial institutions; (2) Within the last two months, coalition forces have captured high ranking Al-Qaeda operatives; (3) The computers of these operatives have recently input data suggesting a resurection of the old plot; (4) The terror alert is based on this new data.

Please change your blog title to "Michael Moore Crony"

Molly, make that 206 card carrying members of the terror alert banana!

Here's a fact, I'm so scared that I'm running out to buy rolls of Duct Tape so I can suffocate in my house. NOT!!

Colin, I like your blog just the way it is, Michael Moore crony or not! Keep 'em coming.

Steph :-)

This blog is like comedy central. It makes me laugh constantly. With all due respect to Michael Moore Jr., and his fellow worshippers, I wonder if any of you have any direct experience with a terrorism related event in this country. Maybe if you did, you'd feel differently. But, my guess is you all live in the comfy confines of suburbia somewhere far away from New York City or Washington DC.

I intend to comment on here regularly when I see Kerry-esque hypocrisy and half truths. The Blogger should give equal time to equal views.

The point of a blog is that you don't have to give equal time to equal views. Go back to foxnews.com if you want "fair & balanced"

I feel like feeding the troll today. Sorry everybody.

As for the holier-than-thou attitudes of people who were "there" (I don't mean you Canon, you're not being holier-than-thou about it), I'd like to offer an alternative perspective.

I was not "there" in New York or DC. I was in lowly Austin TX and 9/11 scared the hell out of us too. We thoroughly expected planes to start flying into nearby buildings or things to start exploding. We were more than a little worried George Bush would show up on our doorstep (irrationally but still). And remember the Federal Building in OKC wasn't exactly the kind of place you'd have predicted as a terrorist target, plus the Koresh people used to be right up the road.

9/11 didn't happen just to NYC and DC and rural PA for that matter. No, of course I can't imagine what it was like to be there. That's not what I'm saying. But it is devisive and spurious to wear the "I was there" motif as a badge of honor somehow putting you above and beyond the rest of the country. Many people died, which is something impossible to comprehend or relate to if you were not there. Were you there in the rubble? If you were, I apologize for this rant. Also if someone you know died. I suspect you weren't and they didn't.

What we could understand was the power of the symbols that were struck. And everyone has friends and family in New York or Washington.

I am not much of a weepy liberal, or a Michael Moore fan for that matter. I may even have a little nihilist streak in me, but the power of those events surpasses that. The world is not the same, but people in the middle of the country feel as much in their own way as any east coast snob with a chip on his shoulder. Maybe you could bear in mind the way things came together after 9/11.

If your want to debate debate, don't throw cheap shots. I'm sure the bloggers would love to have some real commentary to respond to.

The New Republic analyzes the arguments and concludes that the Bush regimes shifting rationales are inconsistent and illogical.
