The Culture of Hypocrisy

After campaigning for years that the 109th Congress under the Republican leadership was the most corrupt in the history of America, House Democrats continue to abide by the mantra "Do as I say, not as I do."

First, Speaker Pelosi, signaled that she would make Willam Jefferson (yes, the same Mr. Jefferson who is under a federal bribery investigations and who had $90,000 in cash in his freezer) Chairman of the House Intel Committee. Fortunately, she backed down. Now, she wants to put him on the Homeland Security Committee. HOLY COW. Apparently, this was all to be done under the cover of night. But, Republicans called BS and demanded a vote on the matter. Now that the Democrats have to be put on the Record on this issue, what will they do? Vote for Mr. Jefferson to be on a key security committee or back down?

One thing is for sure: In 2008, we have to stop the culture of hypocrisy.
