R.I.P.

Headline: "Bush: U.S. to Fight Terror Like Cold War"

Goodness gracious...

Ummmm.... he does realize that we fought the Cold War on the premise of Mutually Assured Destruction, doesn't he? And he realizes that most of the terrorists are quite content to sacrifice everyone's lives in pursuit of their twisted goals, right?

I suppose it's OK though for W.... Afterall, Jesus loves him, this he knows, because Karl Rove tells him so...

Life in the MSB...

Well, I done officially graduated from business school... specifically from the McDonough School of Business (or MSB) at Georgetown University.

Wanna see what it was like?

Well, if you go here and click on the video to the right of the screen you can see some of my favorite people at the school having fun...

New Orleans to host NBA all-star game in 2008

I'm not a fan of the NBA, but they have stepped up when it comes to helping out the city. This could be one of the signal turning points for the city to show the rest of the country that New Orleans is not a lost cause and is worth saving, given its importance to America's heritage.

Money Quotes:

-----------------------------------------------------

Militarizing the border is a totally terrible idea. Do we have a State Department? How much do you want to infuriate Mexico when it's sitting on quite a bit of oil?

-----------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, further proof that the GOP is cuckoo comes to us with the passage of another $70 billion tax cut for the rich. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities says the average middle-income household will get a $20 tax cut, while those making more than $1 million a year will get nearly $42,000.

President Bush and Veep Dick Cheney are still going around claiming if you cut taxes, your tax revenues increase. No, they don't. Now we're just in whackoville. It's not true. Their own economists tell them it's not true, but they go about claiming it is with the same desperate tenacity they clung to false tales of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. How pathetic.

Must be a trend Colin...

Snow starts with racial slur

Myabe someone should tell Tony Snow that he does not work for Fox anymore and that racial slurs don't fly when you are press secretary to the President.

I don't have to tell you that the Religious Right are bad news....

but I was struck dumb when I was reading this article in the NYtimes about the crusade against contraception.

I'll have to admit, for most of the article, the outrageous proposals being propogated by people who think that having sex will lead to you going to some place called "Hell" were pretty run of the mill: annoying to read, scary to think that they might be implemented; but nothing I hadn't seen before. Then, my dumbstruck moment came when I read this:

----------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile a government report later found that Dr. Janet Woodcock, deputy commissioner for operations at the F.D.A., had also expressed a fear that making the drug available over the counter could lead to "extreme promiscuous behaviors such as the medication taking on an 'urban legend' status that would lead adolescents to form sex-based cults centered around the use of Plan B."
----------------------------------------------------------

Yes, you read that correctly. They're worried about teen sex-cults. That's why they're keeping a medication off of the market that would actually reduce the number of abortions in this country. (Ya know, something they say they've been worried about the whole time...)

Meanwhile, from my home state of Illinois, we have this joker in the house...

----------------------------------------------------------
Ron Stephens is both a pharmacist and a Republican state legislator in Illinois, one of the states that are currently battlegrounds between pharmacists who claim the right to refuse to fill prescriptions for emergency contraceptives and women's and civil rights groups that argue that pharmacists must fill all prescriptions presented to them. Stephens not only supports the pharmacists' right of refusal but he also refuses to fill prescriptions for emergency contraception himself. He does, however, fill prescriptions for the birth control pill. When I asked him recently to explain his thinking on the two drugs, he said: "It's the difference between stopping a pregnancy from happening and ending a pregnancy. My understanding of the science is that the morning-after pill can end a pregnancy, whereas birth control pills will make a woman's body believe she is already pregnant so that the egg will not be fertilized." And what if studies show that, in fact, both drugs can prevent implantation? "Everyone has their natural prejudice," Stephens replied. "I'm going to understand it my way, and the issue is that you should not be forced to do something you believe is immoral."
--------------------------------------------------------------

So, a pharmacist is arguing that his 'natural prejudice' is a reasonable basis for withholding a medecine prescribed by a doctor for a patient?

Absurd.

What murderous idiots these are, that run the country.

Now That's a Lead!

Prosecutors have e-mails showing Rep. Tom DeLay's office knew lobbyist Jack Abramoff had arranged the financing for the GOP leader's controversial European golfing trip in 2000 and was concerned "if someone starts asking questions."

Too bad the Houston Chronicle has to use AP copy to report the story...

Fox News helped Bush 'Win' in 2000

Apparently, the growth of Fox News in the nineties influenced enough people to vote for Bush in 2000 so that Florida was as close as it was.

I guess we have to tip our hats to them. They set out to grow the Republican base through manipulation and demagoguery and they succeeded.

We should all give thanks to Rupert Murdoch and associates for landing this country in the mess that it is in. Bastards...

Post-Apocolyptic Communication

It's good to know that the government is planning how to warn people of the future about nuclear waste. Some of the scenarios they envisioned are downright quaint. My favorite is the one about a feminist society that arises annd disbelieves the warnings about the waste because they were written by men.

I'm guessing the wife of the guy who thought that one up has some issues...

Draft Review

As most of you know I love the NFL Draft. I mark it on my calander each year and count down the days. Well on Saturday I had my 12 pack of Shiner ready and a plate full of chili dogs and just hoped beyond hope that my beloved JETS would not pull another Kyle Brady situation. However, the real fireworks happened before draft day even started. On Friday night the Texans chose Mario Williams over Reggie Bush. I am not a big fan of Bush and I think he is going to be a flop in the pros but it was still suprising. The Saints got a gift and they need it.

Now the JETS Draft. They started off by having to decide between the best Left Tackle to come out in awhile in "The Brick" and Matt, pussy boy, Leinart. Thankfully they picked The Brick and then later in the 1st round took the best Center in the draft. So in less than a few hours they totally rebuilt their O-Line. Then they took the 4th best QB in Kellen Clemens for Ore. Many "experts" beleive that if he had not broken his ankle during the season he would have been a top 15-20 pick. The jest then picked an Ohio State LB. The most interesting pick was their 4th round pick of Brad Smith from MO. Guy who can play QB, WR, and RB.

All and all it was a great draft for the Jets. With their new coach they took alot of guys who had character and leadership. Trying to build a franchise like the pats did. 5 of the pick were teams captians. I really like the new direction of the team. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!

Tim... how about the Skins?
