``I thought that was one of the finest performances I've seen in awhile''

Quoth John Wooden after the University of Illinois men's basketball team beat down Gonzaga. It isn't often that John Wooden has much praise for modern basketball, but after watching the Fighting Illini dominate the Zags on a neutral court he seemed positively effusive...

Number one ranked Wake Forest is up next in the Assembly Hall...This game just might be a preview of a championship game down the road in St. Louis....

Oskee Wow Wow!

There's a new sheriff in town...

Jeff George has been signed by the Chicago Bears. This is almost certainly the Sheriff's last chance to show that, in fact, every NFL GM is wrong to think that there isn't a spot for him in the league...

Of course, it's hard to overlook the fact that George is expected to be the number three QB and that George had, at one point, offered to play for free.... But I'm happy for him anyway.

Tom Delay: Corruption Unbounded

Showing the extent to which the Republicans will cover up their reign of courrption, House Republicans will change House Rules in order to allow members indicted by state prosecutors to remain in a leadership post.

Why are they doing this? To protect Tom Delay in case he is charged by a Texas grand jury that has already indicted three of his political associates.

The move practically speaks for itself.

Update: Josh Marshall is keeping track of which members of the irresponsibility party voted for or against the Delay rule.

Bridging the values gap.

TNR's Ryan Lizza regales us with one Kerry advisers take on how we could have won:

----------------------------------------------------

Somehow my favorite quote never made it into the [article that I wrote]. It's from a senior Kerry adviser who was discussing Kerry's inability to connect with the values of everyday Americans. Here it is for posterity: "Clinton went back and executed that retarded guy. That said, 'I share your values.'" Let's hope that between now and 2008 Democrats will come up with some other ways to bridge the values gap.

----------------------------------------------------------

Yep, it's all about values....

Robert Scheer provides some consolation...

His advice? He Won. Live With It, for Now.

Sorry to all three and a half of our readers for the lack of posts. I think sometime after Turkey day I'll be able to provide you all with the links to political cartoons and angry liberal Op-eds that you all need to get through you day and come here to find....

Here they go....

Less than one week into the new Bush Junta the right wing crazies are out for blood. They are trying to bring down Arlen Specter (R-PA) for saying the truth which is that there is no way the Repubs could get an anti-choice Supreme Court Justice through the Senate so don't try. Story is on CNN.com

What happpened...

More people have voted for George Bush to not be President than any other person in history. He has had to rely on peoples fear, hate, bigotry and ignorance of issues in order to win. The one thing we can rely on is that any party that gains too much power will inevitably overreach and win they do they will lose. The Dems did it in '92 when we had all 3 branches and the hate mongers will do it as well.

In response to the coward who continues to not use his or her name on this blog... 1) I assume you think Brad Carson is a Liberal. 2) Is anyone too far right for you? 3) As much as it may drive you crazy but I am a liberal and this page will continue to be a liberal page that fights against what it sees as the worst administration this country has ever seen. The writers of this page ask for and encourage comments from the entire political spectrum but it is time for you to stop hidding your ultra-right wing positions behind the anonymous tag and start owning up to your positions.

That being said....

What the FUCK is going on in this country!!!! Good Fucking GOD!!! Bush, Coburn and Vitter. Coburn wants to execute Doctors and Vitter cheats on his wife with whores!! ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Ok we lost....

Now what are we going to do about it? We can't let this regime run the country un-opposed. We have to stand up, organize and get new leadership in the Democratic Party. Howard Dean is our Barry Goldwater and it is time that Democrats stop trying to be Republican light and start being Democrats again. Stop the me-tooism, start telling it like it is and stand up for being liberal. We need to be the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. It is only 730 days till election day. Get organized!! Run for office!! Speak out!!
