Dean on his way

Check out Kos today...He has his finger on the pulse of the DNC race. It is looking more and more like Dean is on his way to the charimanship. The stop Dean faction had a last ditched attempt to stop him yesterday by claiming that Folwer had one the support of the ADSC Exec. Committee but now the head of the committee is asking all state party chairs to vote as a block (112 votes) for Dean!! that would give dean about 162 or so of the 215 needed. Reform is on the way!! They are starting to listen to the people and the grass roots!

Another Illini reunion

Yesterday afternoon, Illinois celebrated the beginning of its second hundred years of men's collegiate basket ball by beating Minnesota into the ground. An especially poignant aspect of the celebration was the reunion of dozens of former Illinois players and former coaches. This was highlighted by the naming of a street in Champaign for Lou Henson, the coach most responsible for reestablishing Illinois as a dominant national power.

It turns out that there is an Illini reunion of a different sort taking place. Longtime readers of this blog will remember how the blog has chronicled the travels of NFL journeyman QB and former Illinois star, Kurt Kittner. I am pleased to announce that Kurt has now been signed by his his sixth team in less than a year. Is it a coincidence that recently fired Illinois head football coach Ron Turner was just hired as the Bears' offensive coordinator? (Incidentally, that was the job Turner left years ago to become the head coach of the Fighting Illini.)

Here's to hoping that, together, Kittner and Turner enjoy the same degree of success in the NFL that they achieved down in Urbana-Champaign only three years ago.

Hawaiian whores: that's us!

One of the slightly more interesting things you can do with a blog is see how people got to your site. Usually the information isn't available but on occasion you see that someone came to the site after finding it on a search engine and you can hit a link to see what search terms they used. Well, just recently someone did a search for 'hawaiian whores' on Yahoo! and, surprise, surprise, we came up on the second page of results. Hilarious. Apparently, Colin had posted on David (worst law school commencement speech ever) Vitter's daliances with prostitutes and that was enough to get us listed.

Coming up: more posts using words with sexual connotations to drive more traffic to the site!

Update: Merely by posting about the 'Hawaiian whores' dealie has caused us to move up to number one on Yahoo for that search and number four on google... beautiful.

I would like to thank all the Hawaiian whores and the twisted f$#ks looking for them for making this all possible...

More payola

It's always been frustrating to hear the right continue to advance the false notion that there is a liberal media bias. Of course, even if that were the case, it wouldn't be anywhere near as insidious a threat to our democracy than where the radical right wing regime resorts to systematically paying off journalists and commentators. Armstrong Williams told David Corn there were others and now we're seeing that he was telling the truth. The only thing more upsetting than the payoffs is that almost half of the country is perfectly willing to accept this. Whereas if the Clinton administration had attempted similar shenanigans....

Wrong Address

David Corn offers us a point by point rebuttal of Bush's inagural address. Meanwhile, Alex Xod tells us what heard when he tuned into Fux Newz to check out the speech

More Dean!!

From Kos:

More Dean DNC endorsementsby kos Wed Jan 19th, 2005 at 10:11:01 PSTFrom today's Hotline, Dean scores more endorsements from voting DNC members:
Howard Dean announced he was endorsed by the following Dem chairs (in addition to the FL DNC delegation): FL's Scott Maddox and vice-chair Diane Glasser; MS' Wayne Dowdy; OK's Jay Parmley and vice-chair Debbe Leftwich; UT's vice-chair Nancy Woodside; WA's Paul Berendt and VT's Peter Mallary. It's savvy how Dean announces endorsements from Oklahoma and Utah in the same breath as those from Vermont and Washington.
Some are comparing this to Dean's endorsement rush during the primaries. The difference is, these are actual voters in an election where he only needs 221 votes.

Dean!!!

The entire FL DNC delegation has endored Dean for DNC chair!! That is 11 votes. We on our way!

X marks the voter

Spencer Ackerman at TNR points out that maybe putting a unremovable mark on Iraqi voters just might be a bad idea. You know, what with all the talk of the insurgents planning to kill people who voted...

Supersize that margarita to the right....

And start making Colin another...

It was a sad day in New Jersey/New York as the Jets almost but didn't quite upset the Steelers in overtime. I understand Colin is under suicide watch and that the share price of the brewery that makes Jameson's has skyrocketed.

Better luck next time.... I don't suppose the Jets are interested in John Hall are they?

Brits attempted private Social Security

and it has been a total disaster. Is anyone suprised? On of the reasons it has been such a failure is the fees for brokers and risks of the market basically eliminate any profits they would make. So in the end benefits are cut and people end up with less money. I really hope we do this here.... NOT!!

Update: Krugman picks up on this story for the NYT.

Bush Bribing Journalists?

I am shocked, shocked! to find out that the Bush regime resorted to paying journalists to promote its corrupt policies.

After all, the press usually just goes along with propogating the latest talking points from the White House.

What they are really saying

Sure, the AP does a decent job reporting the news of the day, but Alex Xod has the inside scoop on what newsmakers are actually saying about the events of the day....
